Farewell Friends!

My time here on Blogger has come to an end. I started off this year at a great pace with blogging. Then throughout time, my passion for my blog faded. There were too many commitments. To much worrying about numbers and statistics. Blogging was supposed to be fun for me.

I started blogging to get a chance to meet new people and be creative. I have succeeding in that. I have built some really great relationships with many bloggers. Some I have become really close to. So thank you Blogger for allowing this normally shy gal, that kind of opportunity.

With lots of prayer and thought over the last couple of weeks. I finally received my confirmation that I needed to walk away from my personal blog. At this point in my life I am thirsty for more biblical knowledge. I want to have the time to sit and read a book. I have come to the conclusion I am not the super blogger I tried to be. I can not run a home, taxi 3 kids to sports 7 days a week, have time for my husband and still blog. I want to be a Godly example for my children...and I have not been very Godly lately. Fact I have not made very much time for God these last few weeks. That is not a position I ever want to be in again.

So I am saying my farewells to you...my dearest reader. I have enjoyed my time here. I loved reading your comments. I have decided to keep my position as a Co-Founder of Girls of Gods Heart Blog. So if you follow me here and you still want some Shabby Kitteh reading...you will without a doubt be able to follow along there.

With all my heart! XXX

{Makeup Monday} Parlo Cosmetics Review + Discount

Happy Monday to you all. We are at the last Monday in the month of April. Good grief the year is just flying by. Today I have a real treat for you. I have the honor of reviewing a home based beauty company. If you didn't know already I am big on supporting the Work at Home Moms.

A few weeks ago I linked up my blog in a linky party, hopped around and then came across Parlo and Logi. Then I came across her Parlo Cosmetics Etsy shop. BOOM! Then this happened. Chrissy and I have been emailing back and forth and she sent me a lovely package to review.

What is Parlo Cosmetics? A home based Mineral Makeup company. From one busy mom to another. Here is what Chrissy says about her product. "I try to use the most natural ingredients possible while still creating the best product. I will never include harsh chemicals, parabens, or questionable ingredients in my line. Basically, if I react to it, it isn't going to be sold. "

How did Parlo Cosmetics begin? "I started this business with the hopes of creating affordable and fun make-up. I wanted something that worked well with my acne prone skin that didn't sink into my pores and after a few years of formulating I found a recipe that works great for my skin and I hope other women love it too...I love that my little business allows me an outlet for creativity and a time away from my three little dudes, while still allowing me to stay at home with them without that "mom-guilt" that I'm not helping to provide."

Where can you find Parlo Cosmetics? http://www.etsy.com/shop/ParloCosmetics

Review:
Customer Service: Chrissy is a doll face! She is quick to respond to any questions. Very knowledgable about her product.

Price: Very affordable. Each shadow is $4.75 for a 10 gram jar.

Packaging: The product arrival was secure. Beautifully wrapped. The product it self everything was sealed. I received sample packaging and it was pretty nice quality for a sample. Chrissy also sent me a lip balm...I have never used an oval shaped chapstick tube...but I am gonna say I really love it. I love unique items...

Product: Very pretty colors. I can not wait to see what other pigments are in store for the future. Right now there are 17 to chose from. The mineral color is very fine, it almost reminds me of a fairy dust shimmer. My first application was with Urban Decay Eye Primer. I used Minx and Forever. I had a small fair amount of color show (gave a very natural look). Then I used Eye Primer and NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk...with Under the Break. That did the trick. I would say these mineral pigments are best with a tacky bond (Color Tattoos, Eyeliner, or Mac Paint Pot.) Using the Nyx pencil really brought out the color and I was able to get more product on to create a look. * I didn't bother swatching the shadows because Etsy has a great swatch for viewing of each shadow*

Longevity: My shadow lasted all day. Towards the end of the day with about 7 hours wear I finally had some color wear off. Mind you I am at the sports complex most of my days...so I am subjected to weather wear as well.

Final Review: A- Well done. I would love to see maybe a primer of some sort to use with the pigments and more colors in the shadow family. The customer service is fabulous, packaging is well done, very affordable and wearable. If you are new to makeup...I think mineral pigments are the way to go to get you used to color.

Now the fun part...what did I get...

product used: Under the Break (Lid), Angel Eyes (Brow Bone and inner Tear Duct)
and Rumor Has It (Crease)

This teal color is one of my favorite colors to wear in the summer...ok, maybe I wear it all year round. I just love it! I am excited to play with the mint color...M'lady. How would you wear the mint? I am thinking with Brown...

Remember to follow me on Instagram for more #beautyblogger hashtags and other randomness.

Now for the fun shopping part. So Chrissy so graciously offered YOU ALL A 20% discount to her Etsy Shop just for being a reader. Plus right now she is offering a free full sized shadow with any $10 purchase in her shop...seriously today is the day to start shopping. What a deal!

So for a super rad deal use "SHABBY" when checking out to recieve your
20% off your entire purchase!
Then come back and leave me a comment on what you ordered. I am excited to try some blushes!

Tween Slumber party

This past weekend my daughter had a handful of her closest friends over. It wasn't a birthday or any type of celebration. We didn't have fancy balloons or streamers. We did have a couple really fun activities and lots of laughter. Oh...and two extremely exhausted parental units.

I started searching online for some fun activities for the girls. A few have never met the others so I wanted a sort of break the ice type of game. Being a tween girl with raging hormones is quiet the roller coaster ride. I did not want anyone to feel out of place. That just makes my job that much harder and my referee uniform was at the cleaners.

I did find one game on The Party Animal Blog. You take a ball of some sort (They used a child's latex ball) and write a bunch of really random questions on it. Maybe some #Truth or #Dare. The possibilities are endless. The rules are, you toss the ball around to eachother and when you catch the ball, which ever question your RT THUMB lands on, is the question or challenge you complete.

On our ball I had questions like...

If you had to choose between one...shaving your legs or shaving your armpits?
(this question had them cracking up...and the answers were hilarious)

If you were President, what would you change?

Say something nice about the person next to you.

Sing part of a song that has "Money" in it.

If you were on an Island and could only have 3 things to survive, what would they be?
(yes Justin Bieber was someones answer)

The girls had so much fun with this game. I purchased a 97 cent beach ball from Walmart. We can deflate it and use it again for the next party. This was a CHEAP and FUN game for the girls. They went home talking about it to their parents. I got text the next afternoon telling me how much they loved that ball. Thank you Party Aminal Blog!

The last game I had for the girls was a scavenger hunt. No slumber party is complete without a scavenger hunt. We live really close to an outside Mall/Movie Theater. Which has a really nice pavillon with fire pits and fountains. The perfect hangout. So this is where we took out scavenger hunt. This was so much fun. My husband and I chaperoned and died laughing the whole time.

This worker at the Candy store was amazing! One of the challenges was to find someone to sing Justin Bieber "baby" with them and video it. He sang and DANCED. It was the best of the night.

Find 4 people not in your group to form the letters YMCA and take a photo.
I was so surprised at how WILLING everyone was to help. We had the whole outdoor mall playing with us. The kids loved it!

Of course no sleep over is complete with out a flyer!
The girls had a blast. We were told it was the best sleep over they had been to.
Makes me happy, because we didn't even try. We just had fun.

Currently: We are planning my daughters Neon Dance Bash.
This is a co-ed party....may the odds be in my favor. *gulp*

{DIY} Monogram Canvas Art

Last week I shared with you my Chevron Wall Art project. I also mentioned that I am working on a full wall in my home. Today I am sharing with you a piece that I made over the weekend to add to that wall.

This is such a totally easy DIY! I purchased my canvas at Michael's with my 40% off coupon. I paid a little over $6 for it. I used my Cricut machine to cut out the letter I wanted on card stock paper, all different sizes. Ranging from 5 inch to 1 inch. I used a pencil to trace around each "M" as I went. I arranged the M's in different positions to form the look of subway art. I threw in a few little hand drawn hearts in the empty gaps.

Using a fine tip paint brush I outlined all M's and filled in the space with black acrylic paint. This was the most part that was time consuming. But I enjoy projects like this. In the largest blank spot I put the year my husband and I were married. (using a silver permanent marker) There you have it...so simple and child can do it. Fact my daughter is painting one for her room.

I love looking at this piece on my statement wall. The best part was it was CHEAP. I was pricing wall art at the cheapest place I know to find home decor (ROSS) and all canvas art was still over $20 and wasn't personal....I like mine better.

Makeup Monday {Color Challenge} Hunger Games inspiried look

Welcome back beauties to our fun Makeup linky party. Hosted by myself and Maria with Agape Love Designs. If you have been hanging around for a bit now, you probably know that this is not your normal linky party. We offer fun challenges and step outside of the box when it comes to beauty related posts. It's fun right? We think so. When Maria and I were putting together this Linky Series one of the challenges we came up with was a "Color" Challenge. One specific color that you don't normally see people wearing as far as beauty items. We choose Orange. Neither one of us ever wear orange for our eye makeup so this was quite the challenge for us both.

When I think of orange, I think of the Hunger Games. Not this fat girl racing for a burger...but the Book/Movie. I see that mocking bird...girl on fire. So that was my inspiration for this look. Plus I showed some love to an old palette that I had thrown in my drawer. One that I used once and wasn't too impressed with it. I am all about second chances.

Palette Used: Sephora MoonShadow Baked Palette. Verdict: I STILL DON'T LIKE IT. The shadows are too powdery and it takes a lot to make the color pop...even with primer and a base.

How bout it? Are you ready to link up your color challenge or any other beauty related posts you have worked on. Old posts are welcomed. Remember if you do not have a blog...Instagram, Flicker, Facebook or any other media site you share on are welcome. Please remember to link up the specific post not your whole site.

To stay in the loop on all of our giveaways and challenges, I recommend signing up for our Makeup Monday newsletter. No spammy...x our hearts! You can do that HERE.

{DIY} Canvas Wall Art

*this idea is not my own...I am guilty of seeing this sort of craft on Pinterest. Pretty much daily.*

Here's how I completed this incredibly time consuming craft project.

Supplies Needed:
Canvas
Ruler
Painters Tape
Scissors
Monogram
Acrylic Paint
Sponge brush
Hotglue or any adhesive of your choice (not pictured)
Patience....

measured out my 12x12 canvas into 2x2 squares

placed my painters tape in a V shape at the point of each square to create the chevron pattern I was looking to achieve

It did get a little harder as I went along. But I still measured out each area and kept the same amount of spacing in between each arch

I mixed two colors to achieve the desired color.

Painted the canvas using a sponge brush. Painters table bubbled a little bit so I had to go back with a steady hand and repaint clean lines. *whomp*
Allow paint to dry a couple hours.
Attach your Monogram with adhesive of your choice. I used Hot glue because I am impatient.

I am currently working on a whole wall where this art piece is displayed. I can not wait to share with you the finished project. For now, you get just this project. *wink* what a tease right?

Which one?

Friends! I am in the process of getting a new tattoo. Can you hear me squealing?
I have one that I got last year for my 10 yr wedding anniversary, but you know the saying, "once you get one you are hooked". I have been wanting a cross tattoo for-evs. Monday night at bible study us girls got to talking about all wanting to go together and get the same tattoo. (Yes, Jesus still loves the tattooed) I have narrowed it down to TWO choices of where I want my cross...but I can not decide.
If it were you...where would you get yours?

I like the cross on the finger, so dainty and cute...
but then the cross on the hand (pictured, Demi Lovato) is pretty awesome.
Is that too rock star for this 30 somethin mama?

I am so excited for this tattoo. It really means something more to me because us 3 girls have grown pretty close during our bible study. A friendship that may not have been expected but you know God...puts people together for a reason.

{DIY} Topiary

Supplies
Styrofoam Ball (size up to you)
Styrofoam Cube
Spanish Moss
Glue Gun/Sticks
Newspaper for easy clean up
Stand for Topiary (mine is from Ross)
Rope or jute
Round Dowels
Green thread (optional)

Place the Styrofoam cube inside of your container. my cube was slightly larger then the container and I just shoved in inside. Nice firm fit.

Insert dowel inside sphere and cube (centered) Use hot glue to secured hold.

The rope I had on hand was larger then I needed. I unraveled the strands to form smaller stripes.
Jute would also be a good item to use here.

I wrapped the rope strand around the dowel for a "wood" effect.
Gluing as I wrapped.

This is a must...you must watch Duck Dynasty while you craft. Otherwise, your whole project will be incomplete. (*wink) Add hot glue to any area on your sphere and attach moss. I started with the top of the sphere on my first topiary, but I would recommend the bottom by the dowel as the area to start with. I did this for my second topiary and it was much easier.

This project WILL be messy! To secure all the loose pieces I used green thread, wrapped it all over my topiary. You can only see the thread if you look really close.
Consider it a "hair net" for your topiary.

Makeup Monday {Little Mermaid} Makeup Look feat.Jesse's Girl Cosmetics

Welcome beauties to Makeup Monday! I hope you all are enjoying this link up and have found some new bloggers to love. I know Maria and I sure have.

When we first announce the Disney Princess Makeup Look challenge I mentioned that I really wanted to create a Little Mermaid look. Due to crazy hormonal breakouts I failed at that challenge. I recreated a Little Mermaid Mani/Pedi on my daughter instead. Well since then my thiz-face has cleared up a bit. So I wanted to finally be able to share that look with you.

I used my favorite drugstore pigments. Jesse's Girl Cosmetics, found at Rite Aid or Via the Jesse's Girl WEBSITE.

Lid: Jesse's Girl Eye Shadow Insurance Primer and Ultra Violet
Crease: Flambe...blended out
Lower Lashline: Majestic Green
Inner Crease: Sunstone (BEAUTIFUL color!)

I really wanted to challenge myself to use a red shadow for this look. Using Flambe as a definition color worked best for me.

I am in no way affiliated with Jesse's Girl Cosmetics. All products are purchased by me for personal use. I just really get a lot of joy out of creating looks with them. I belive you will too. Check, check, check them out!

Have you signed up for the Makeup Monday Newsletter? If not, head on over HERE and jot your pretty little name down. Bold Color Spring Makeup Look

Hey Friends! Since the weather has been colder I have been sticking to darker eye makeup, occasional pop of color here and there. Last week I decided to step out of my routine and play with a bold pop of color. The sun was shinning and it just felt right.

Rummaging through my makeup stash I found my long lost friend. My BH Costmetics Party Girl Palette. I used the neutral colors a bunch when I first got it last summer. There is a pink #4 in this palette that I LOVE! It has a bit of gold shimmer in it and looks amazing on. I knew I really wanted to use that color and a mint green. (#1) Then everything starting falling into place. You must know already I love a good pop of teal (#2 and combined with a blue for dimension)...pretty much anywhere in my life. Naturally I would add some sort to my makeup.

This is what I came up with...

Linking this look up with this weeks Makeup Monday Linky Party!

Spring Fashion {Walmart Edition}

I am having so much fun with this whole Walmart Outfit creating bidness! I made another trip to Walmart this past weekend. GASP twice in a matter of days. What has come over me? I took another in depth prowl around the clothing department. I window shopped a few more items. I love these salmon polka dot Bermudas, sadly I did not see these in store. Maybe online only type of deal. Everything else was out on display at my Wally World.

For this outfit I paired them with a mint colored lace tank. With a neutral straw floppy hat. Tan shoes with a pop of color along the toe piece. That ties in with the bold scarf. Fun straw bag...this outfit screams Beach Day or Park outing. This is something I would definitely wear to one of the kids baseball games...in a heart beat!

I have been having a lot of fun making outfit sets on Polyvore. Especially affordable outfits. It's like playing with paper dolls all over again!

If you like this outfit...feel free to pin it.

Makeup Monday {Challenge} 7 Deadly Sins of Beauty

Hey girl hey! Welcome to Makeup Monday. Today we are have a fun challenge for you. Something to think about. We are stepping outside of the box with this challenge and wanting to know more about your beauty personality. We have all heard about the 7 deadly sins right? Well we are asking you what your 7 deadly sins of beauty are. Ekk I had a lot of fun with this challenge. Made me think about all my products.

Challenge Questions!

1. GREED: What is your most inexpensive beauty item? What is your most expensive?
My most expensive beauty item that I own is my Lorac Pro Palette. Which I LOVE!
My least expensive beauty item would be my E.L.F Clear mascara. Or any other E.L.F and Wet N Wild product since those are the cheapest on the market...and best bet for your buck.

2. WRATH: What beauty products do you have a love/hate relationship with?
My Sonia Kashuk Hidden Agenda Concealer Palette. GAH...this was a monthly favorite for a while, until I found out it was the culprit behind my breakouts. I love it for under my eyes...anywhere else on my face is DANGER!

3. GLUTTONY: What are your most delicious beauty products?
My Milani Baked Blushes. So beautiful...I love them the most in the summer. They have shimmer in them and make my half breed skin look fabulous. Plus the packaging is adorable. Don't you love buying cute products?

4. SLOTH: What beauty product do you neglect, due to laziness?
Lip Liner...any in general. I always forget...or I am just lazy. Mostly lazy.

5. PRIDE: What beauty product gives you the most self confidence?
Mascara. I never leave home without it. My favorite mascara is Physicians Formula. I switch out all my other mascaras but I always have a coat of PF on.

6. LUST: What beauty products do you want the most?
Urban Decay Vice Palette! That blue shadow is speaking sweet nothings to me. But I never buy it. I hold it and caress it...but never give in to the temptation. Probably because I don't need it. But I will get you my pretty...if it is the last thing I do...*throws head back and cackles*

7. ENVY: What items would you most like to receive as a gift?
Essie Polishes. I love nail polish and Essie has some great colors. Like Trophy Wife...I really want that color but it is always sold out! I feel like a bottle of nail polish is a fun gift to get, inexpensive and is a little "hey I was thinking about you"...

What do you think? Did you participate in the challenge? If so we would love to hear about it.
This linky is open to Beauty related posts only. Share your Mani/Pedi posts, hauls, pictorials, tutorials, hate it/love its, reviews and beauty looks. Don't blog...link up your Instagram, Flicker, Facebook or You Tube channel. We are open to it all.
